It’s often said that the more we know about each other, the better we are able to understand each other. This in my opinion should be a main rule during any relationship.
While in a taxi going home, I was quite surprised to hear
what the driver was listening to. No, it wasn’t lewd music and no it didn’t
involve any racial or religious discrimination. The driver was actually
listening to a health program, but what drew my attention more was the topic being
discussed.
“Functions of a woman’s body”- this was what he was listening! Now, if you’re
a guy reading this, you may be wearing a smirk that says: “oh yea”. But if you’re
a female like me, you may share similar sentiments.
Sadly, not many
males today are eager to learn about a woman’s body. They may be fascinated,
but have never really tried to read a book, search online, watch or listen to a
program that imparts facts about the female body.
In this situation, I thought it was a plus that the driver wanted to know more about the female body. Some males would simply
switch the station in fear of being branded a “sissy, mamah-man, or big nerd”. But, in my opinion they’re just “cowards and foolish” for believing
such things.
From my Writing for Electronic Media class, I learnt that
during the process of writing, one should always remember the medium in which
he/she is writing for. Now how does this connect to this post? If you do not
remember or know about the person(s) you’re dealing with, it’s already a problem.
I’m not just referring to girlfriends/boyfriends; I’m also speaking to the
parents, teachers, doctors, etc.
Kahlil Gibran says: “The reality
of the other person is not in what he reveals to you, but in what he cannot
reveal to you. Therefore, if you would understand him, listen not to what he
says but rather what he does not say.
