S.O.S

                  Summer Occasional Shopping (S.O.S)

Sss…sizzling grills igniting an irresistible aroma. Excited Teenagers partying to their favourite playlist. Tempting beaches, hideaways and chill zones to choose from. Families reuniting with each other-All chanting the same theme: Summer!!!

What did you do last summer? How do you plan to spend this summer? Well, like some of my colleagues, I plan to enjoy the very few months left in senior year, but also move one step forward towards achieving my list of other goals.

Many persons are shopping for graduation and sometimes one may be tempted to get carried away. We all want to look our best when we see our loved ones marching onto the platform to collect what they’ve worked so hard for: public recognition of their achievement and ofcourse, a degree.

Well, stop for a moment, breathe and think. Ask yourselves these questions:
  • How much money are you working with? What’s your budget like?
  • Which method of shopping will I be using: internet, in person or direct marketing?
  • What theme best suits the occasion? What colours would be most suitable?
  • Which clothing style is most comfortable and appropriate?
  • Which accessories would match perfectly (shoes, belts, handbags, jewelry, socks/stockings, head-wear)?
  • Do I feel comfortable shopping alone or with someone else?

Now that you’ve thought about it, it would be best to write some of those ideas down.

While shopping, there are a few tricks in which you should be aware of.

Tricks:

  • Compare and contrast quality of prices.
  • Avoid shopping for popular outfits. Try to stick to more unique styles and designs.
  • Buy accessories to match your outfit, not the other way around.
  • Avoid impulse buying, such as purchasing an item you already have at home.
  • Don’t just shop for the present; buy durable items for future occasion.

From my Writing for Electronic Media class, I've learnt that 'visuals' do play a major role in productions and screen play writing (show not tell). However, it can also be applied to ourselves as well. So, remember: "Your clothes may say alot about who you are".

Happy Shopping!!!
